An engineering company was prosecuted after a court heard how an employee died after being struck by a bundle of railway sleepers during an unsafe lifting operation.

The company was fined £200,000 plus costs under section 2(1) of the Health and Safety at Work Act 1974 for failing to ensure the health and safety of its employees.
